There is an embossed profile of a woman on the crest of the piece, embossed flowers, even the handle is a work of art. When set against a backdrop of flames the silhouette it creates through the cut outs is beautiful. The blades fan out and slide back into place easily and as they should. When open, the fan measures almost 38 across. When closed it measures about 27 tall, 7 across, and 4 deep. The base is 11 wide.
